Athletes Vault into
4th of July Event

The Northwest’s Top Prep, Collegiate
and Post-Collegiate Vaulters

Spend July 4th with the Northwest’s top prep, collegiate and post-collegiate vaulters! The University of Washington track and field program, in conjunction with www.PoleVaultPower.com, will bring the region’s top pole-vaulters together for fun in the sun on the 4th of July with the annual beach vault competition in at the Tacoma Freedom Fair.

An annual highlight of the Northwest pole vaulting schedule, this year’s “beach vaults” — contested on a 150-foot ultra-fast wood runway placed directly on the waterfront — will be held in conjunction with the region’s most enjoyable summer events, the Tacoma Freedom Fair.

Celebrate Independence Day with the region’s top vaulters at the July 4th beach vault area by the Les Davis Pier on Tacoma’s Ruston Way waterfront. The competition then heads up I-5 to help kick off Seattle’s annual Seafair festival by welcoming the Seafair pirates to Alki Beach with the second beach vault competition of the summer on July 7th.

This year’s beach vault field is expected to be on par with past competitions, which have included NCAA champions, USA champions, world and Olympic champions, as well as the best high school and Masters athletes in the Northwest. Two-time NCAA, three-time USA and 2006 world indoor champion Brad Walker. Both competitions will follow the same schedule. Entry is open to vaulters of all ages and skill levels, with competitions to be held at the Masters’, high school and high-school elite levels, as well as the much-anticipated Elite Men ’s and Women’s Vault:

10:00 AM Masters Women/Men, High School Girls/Boys (PR under 11 feet)
Noon Masters Women/Men, High School Girls/Boys (PR over 11 feet)
2:00 PM High School Boys (PR over 14 feet)
5:00 PM Elite Men/Women (4 foot difference in bar height)

Due to the limited amount of space in the competition, entries must be received no later than Friday, June 29 to guarantee a position in the meet. Entries will be taken the day of the meet if space permits. To complete an entry form, or for more information, visit www.PoleVaultPower.com.
