The Randy Oxford Band

Performing at the Tacoma Freedom Fair
JULY 4, 2010, 7:15 - 8:00 PM
DUKE'S CHOWDER HOUSE BLUES STAGE

On tour this summer, The Randy Oxford Band is proud to call Tacoma "home", as the band brings its distinctive urban blues sound to venues and festivals throughout the country. Led by Randy Oxford - award-winning trombonist, jam host and entertainer - the band showcases a style of blues that is as diverse as the band members themselves. Randy's ability to energize an audience and inspire fellow musicians has attracted great players from a variety of backgrounds. Jada Amy is the featured vocalist, with her velvety voice and confident, take-no-prisoners attitude. She's sultry, playful, and hard to resist. The band features two lead guitarists. Rafael Tranquilino is one of the hottest young guitarists to come out of Mexico. His style is spirited and emotional, a skillful blend of blues, rock, latin, and funk. Jho Blenis is the respected veteran, known for his finesse and creativity. The two guitarists complement each other and, together with Randy's killer trombone and a solid rhythm section, give the band its characteristic big sound. The interplay between the performers provides the audience with something entertaining to watch, as well as to hear.
